MACABEBE, Pampanga – Gov. Lilia Pineda thanked the Filipino-Chinese community for giving at least 16,000 bags of relief goods to flood victims in Pampanga as of Wednesday.

Pineda joined the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCCII) in distributing food packs to residents of Apalit, Macabebe and  Masantol, three of the towns that had remained flooded since torrential rains battered Pampanga’s 395 barangays on August 7.

The FCCCII was led by chapter president Eddie Chua, owner of the King’s Lumber and Hardware in the City of San Fernando.

Chua’s group also donated at least 12,000 food packs to flood victims in Bulacan province.

The Filipino-Chinese group earlier gave relief goods to flood victims of Sto. Tomas, one of the most severely affected towns in Pampanga.

“I want to express my sincerest gratitude to the Filipino-Chinese groups for helping our flood victims since last week and even in the past times when we were affected by the perennial problem,” said Pineda in the dialect.

“But I want to thank all other groups and individuals – big or small — who have been helping us. I can’t mention them all because they are too many and we will not end,” said Pineda, who was accompanied by Board Members Trina Dizon, Monz Laus and Fritzie David-Dizon.

Chua said their project was made possible through the assistance of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines, World Daily News, Filipino –Chinese Amity Club, Overseas Chinese Alumni Association o the Philippines, Filipino-Chinese Shin Lian Association, Inc.

Mayors Annette Flores-Balgan of Macabebe, Oscar “Jun” Tetangco of Apalit and Peter Flores of Masantol welcomed and thanked Pineda and Chua’s group for their “continuous and consistent” assistance for flood victims in the three towns.
